Gershom
The possibility gave me goosebumps, which on a Rzerth protruded in their stomach region forcing me to stand until the sensation passed. The more I thought about it the more I realized I had probably discovered the answer to how the weapon was created. Now what was I to do with this? Would the elders be open to listening to me? As soon as I asked the question, I knew the answer. Without proof, they would most likely dismiss it out of hand.
The sound of footsteps then revealed that the other Little Dragons were returning. In walked Jerome and Ezekiel. Although they both nodded politely at me, I knew they weren't my friends. Especially Jerome regarded me with wariness and dislike though I must admit it wasn't as bad as last time. "So you succeeded in contacting Hannah," Ezekiel began.
"Yes, he did," Hannah's voice suddenly ringing through the cave startling us as she entered. Her large Rzerth's eyes fixing Jerome and Ezekiels with a hard look. "We contacted Res Publica and their answer is to lure us into a trap."
"A trap!" I exclaimed shifting my attention towards her as she gave me a definitive nod. "I talked to my friend. She unlike me didn't leave Res Publica but has managed to stay informed on their actions," she said turning back to the others. "Gershom and I upon contacting the organization received a very cryptic note to report tomorrow evening at 6pm Earth time to the third moon in the Xurus galaxy. She told me that 12 people in total received that note and from what she can gather many of them expressed some reservation about Felix taking over the group. If he is the murder of Linda Devine, who knows what will happen when we go."
"Wait a minute! " Jerome's strangled voice called out as his eyes became opaque and to my surprise so did Ezekiels. "You have been instructed to go to the third moon in Xurus galaxy at 6pm Earth time tomorrow?" he asked in a horrified whisper.
"Yes," Hannah said her voice slow showing her concern and confusion over the other two's reactions to her information.
"We received similar instructions not through telepathy but on paper," Ezekiel managed to say. "The Little Dragon refused to give their name but said they had valuable information that could help us free Anne."
Silence came over the cave as we wrestled with the implications of our situation. Someone, possibly Felix, was trying to get rid of all of us. "None of us are going to survive that meeting," Hannah then said speaking outloud what we were all thinking.
"Not if whoever summoned us has the weapon that killed Linda Devine," Ezekiel agreed.
In the midst of my horror, I remembered my earlier discovery and told them all how I suspected the weapon was truly made.
Jerome gave me the strangest look. "Do you honestly believe that a Little Dragon could enter the fulcrum with out being reabsorbed?"
"It makes more sense than an anti-garden," I countered and then added "Also if that is where it was created, then hopefully we can discover a way to destroy it."
"A big risk," Jerome said with a heavy sigh. "But if you are right, it is our only hope." he said surprising me with his endorsement.
"I agree," Ezekiel said. "Even if you aren't right about the ant--garden Gershom, the fulcrum's power is what we need. I would rather risk reabsorption then being removed from existence by the weapon."
"Then I will make the attempt," I volunteered drawing all of their eyes to me. I saw uncertainty in their gaze but no one challenged me. I wasn't sure if I should be relieved or insulted. I could understand Ezekiel and Jerome sacrificing me but it would have been nice if Hannah had at least given a half-hearted attempt to discourage me. But in all honestly, I wasn't truly surprised. Hannah only came back for her own interests, not mine.
